Garden Planted – Check

May 31, 2010

Last summer I attempted a Topsy Turvy tomato planters…now I didn’t buy the real thing, but rather rigged up one myself. And to make a long story short, it didn’t work. We did get tomatoes however they did not taste that wonderful. I thought this year we would try for the real thing, an actual garden.

(Please ignore the hosta there on the left, it was my last one for our front landscape. So that is finished now too.)

She is small, but mighty. I am following the idea of square-foot gardening. The idea of it sounded easy enough. You plant one type of plant in each square foot section rather than in rows. Once that square foot is finished producing you replace that section with something else. I don’t know if it completely make sense for what we are growing, but it is a start.

Everything is planted. We have Roma and cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, green and jalapeno peppers, and tons of herbs.

With four tomato plants, we will be sharing delicious home grow tomatoes with the whole neighborhood in no time. Happy growing!
